Schering-Plough manufactures and markets prescription pharmaceuticals and animal health care products through our Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals operating unit, which accounts for more than 85 percent of total company sales. Marketed under the Schering Laboratories, Key Pharmaceuticals and Warrick Pharmaceuticals labels, prescription products are offered primarily in our five major therapeutic areas: respiratory products, anti-infective, oncology, dermatologicals and cardiovasculars.

Respiratory Products
Allergy and asthma products make up our largest and fastest growing therapeutic category, with $1.8 billion in worldwide sales in 1995.
Schering-Plough's allergy products include such leading brands as:
- CLARITIN (loratadine) line of nonsedating antihistamines (CLARITIN Prescribing Information).
- VANCENASE (beclomethasone dipropionate) aquaeous corticosteroid nasal spray.

Our asthma products include:
- PROVENTIL (albuterol) asthma inhaler and inhaler refill.
- VANCERIL (beclomethasone dipropionate), an orally inhaled steroid.
- UNI-DUR, a once-daily theophylline for asthma.
- THEO-DUR, a sustained-release theophylline for asthma.
Anti-infective and Anticancer Products
Generating over $1 billion in sales in 1995, our anti-infective and anticancer treatments encompass a number of our most important and fastest-growing products. These include:

- INTRON A (alpha interferon), a genetically engineered anticancer/antiviral agent approved in more than 82 countries for over 20 indications, including hairy cell leukemia, Kaposi's sarcoma, venereal warts, hepatitis B and hepatitis C, malignant melanoma and early-stage B2-C prostate cancer.
- EULEXIN (flutamide), an oral treatment for early and advanced-stage prostate cancer.
- LEUCOMAX (molgramostim), a granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) used outside of the U.S. as an adjunct to chemotherapy to promote the production of white blood cells.
- ETHYOL (amifostine), a selective cytoprotective agent used outside the U.S. to address the hematological toxicity associated with chemotherapy treatment of late-stage ovarian cancer.
- CEDAX (ceftibuten), a new broad-spectrum oral cephalosporin indicated for certain respiratory, urinary and gastrointestinal infections in adults and children, including middle-ear infections.
Dermatologicals
In 1995, Schering-Plough expanded its position in world dermatological markets with product sales exceeding $500 million. Dermatological products include:
- LOTRISONE (clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropionate), a topical antifungal/anti-inflammatory cream.
- ELOCON (mometasone furoate), a mid-potency topical corticosteriod.
- DIPROSONE (betamethasone) lines of high-potency topical steroids.
Cardiovasculars
Through targeted research and strategic licensing agreements, Schering-Plough is becoming an important competitor in world cardiovascular markets. Our cardiovascular products account for more than $400 million in annual sales and include:

- IMDUR (isosorbide mononitrate), a long-acting oral nitrate.
- NITRO-DUR transdermal nitroglycerin patches.
- K-DUR sustained-release potassium supplement tablets -- No. 1 in the U.S. market.
Health Care Products
In addition to pharmaceuticals, Schering-Plough manufactures and markets a broad range of popular over-the-counter products, as well as leading sun care and foot care products, through our Schering-Plough HealthCare Products unit. Combined, sales of these products exceeded $600 million in 1995.
Over-the-Counter (OTC) Products
In terms of sales, OTC pharmaceuticals comprise our largest category of products available without a prescription. In 1995, sales of OTC products totaled $250 million and include:

Foot Care Products
Schering-Plough is North America's leading foot care company, with sales of $240 million and a 63 percent market share in 1995. Our foot care products include:

- LOTRIMIN antifungal products
- TINACTIN antifungal products
Sun Care Products
With our COPPERTONE franchise holding one-third share of the U.S. market, Schering-Plough is the undisputed leader in sun care. Sales of sun care products totaled $127 million in 1995 and include:
- COPPERTONE sun care products
- SHADE sunblock lotions and gels
- SOLARCAINE sunburn relief products
- TROPICAL BLEND dark-tanning products
- WATER BABIES waterproof sunblock lotions
Animal Health Products
Continuing a pattern of solid growth, 1995 sales of animal health products totaled $190 million and include:
- NUFLOR (florfenicol), a broad-spectrum, multi-species antibiotic for use in food animals.
- OPTIMMUNE (cyclosporine), an ophthalmic ointment preparation licensed from K.B. Visions, Inc. for treating keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye) in dogs -- a disorder that can lead to blindness.
- OTOMAX (gentamicin, betamethasone and clotrimazole), the leading ointment for treating acute and chronic ear infections in dogs.
