ABC is POP

This CD-ROM press kit is part of ABC Television's promotional efforts for 1997 May Sweeps. Packaged with "The Shining" CD-ROM and sent to over 2,500 members of the press, the kit features sections on "ABC 3D-Week," "U2 Is Pop," "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," and "Forrest Gump."

"ABC 3D-Week" is a joint promotion with Wendy's Restaurants and will take place the week of May 5. During "ABC 3D-Week," many of the Network's series will feature episodes utilizing the technology made popular in the '50s and now updated in the '90s. At least one segment of each participating ABC series will be shot in 3D. Wendy's will distribute over 2 million 3D glasses at their outlets, making this the largest 3D event in history.

The "U2 Is Pop," "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," and "Forrest Gump" sections of the CD-ROM provide video clips, high-resolution images, and program information to help excite members of the press and to provide them with resources as they publish their reviews.

Tumble also used the assets from the CD-ROM to create an "ABC Is Pop" Web site. The site is targeted at consumers and helps ABC extend its marketing budget by repurposing existing materials.
