Tumble Interactive Media, Inc. Designs Web Site For Pharmaceutical Giant NovartisNew York, NY, February 3, 1997Tumble Interactive Media, Inc., a New York- based new media agency, has completed work on the World Wide Web site for Novartis, the company formed by the December 1996 merger of Swiss pharmaceutical companies Ciba and Sandoz. The merger of the two pharmaceutical giants has been characterized as the largest corporate merger in history.
The Novartis Web sitehttp://www.novartis.comwas officially launched on January 22, 1997 concurrent with the launch of the companys global advertising campaign. The interactive site gives users a complete overview of the company, with detailed product information on Novartis core businesses in healthcare, agribusiness and nutrition. Users can learn how Novartis is organized, meet company leaders, check out office locations worldwide, download investor information and e-mail company officials.
Novartis, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, is now the worlds second- largest drug company, with 100,000 employees in over 100 countries. The Ciba and Sandoz merger was announced on March 7, 1996, and the Federal Trade Commission gave its approval of the joining of the two companies in late December 1996.
Tumble developed two sites for Novartis. "Working with Novartis PR and marketing firm, Ruder Finn, we created both an intranet and Internet site," said Cal Vornberger, president of Tumble Interactive Media, Inc.
While the Novartis Internet site is a general information source about the company, the intranet available only within the companyit is designed to give employees helpful information about the progress of the merger and serve as a conduit for management-employee communications. A big challenge was making the wide variety of databases that existed at Ciba and Sandoz before the merger available on the Novartis Intranet site, said Vornberger
